Migrating Tanh and Dismantling Drupal
adie — Fri, 09/18/2009 - 09:31
A strange post… considering the one it follows, but I’ve decided to re-purpose “tanh.net” and migrate it’s content to “adie.me“:
- Months ago I purchased the domain “adie.me“, mostly because I liked the idea of having the email address “m[@]adie[.]me” (Matt Adie .me – cheesy I know but I like it).
- I’ve also had the urge to use “tanh.net” for something (I know not what) other than a personal blog. .. and really… that’s what “adie.me” seems made for.
I’ve also decided to give Wordpress a try. I love Drupal but:
- It always leads me down a path of complexity, and due to a heavy use of modules I always seem to have a difficult time upgrading.
- It’s incredibly versatile, and I highly recommend it as a CMS, but generally speaking it’s overkill for a blog.
- It seems to be resource heavy on my shared hosting service’s mysql server
So I’ve migrated my content, and all the posts from “tanh.net” can be found at “adie.me” under the category “From Tanh” or within the archives.
I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with “tanh.net“, but hopefully I can come up with something interesting…
So it's now 2009 and I've got some plans:
- Get back into training... it's been a year now since I've done much of anything --I'd like to gear up to run a couple of races this summer.
- Make money, save, and invest... I need the money to buy a building in the next couple of years.
- Learn the art of frugality, and read more about investing.
- Take a course in renovations, and read a couple of books on the subject.
- Continue to tweak my attempts to be environmentally sustainable (I love my worm bins).
- Get back into blogging.
The Underdogs

weary office sleepy stuck awake stuck at work
Last Tuesday I was slouching down the street, still on the sicker side of well, when a Bently pulls up to me and the person inside beckons me over. The man in the car was a very funky styley fellow who spoke little to no english, and shamefully enough my french can only really be described as sad.
Been Over a Week
matthew — Sat, 03/17/2007 - 20:15
Wow it's been over a week since I've posted anything... now that's a shame. Today I posted a review of the Expo Manger Santé to Midnight Poutine. If you like organic food it's an event well worth checking out. However, tomorrow is the last day, so if you can find some time around the St Patty's Day parade you should head on over to the Palais des congrès.
At any rate, I got really sick last weekend, and I've spent most of the week recovering.
I haven't really been training, going out, or writing all that much. However, the past week did see me miss my chance at a possible modeling career ;) (more on that later), and it witnessed my meeting a wonderful woman (but not so sure I'll write about that... too personal).
7 Year Itch
matthew — Wed, 01/10/2007 - 11:53
If the theory Wil points to in Through th3 Wall, the theory that people overhaul and redefine themselves every 7 years, is correct, then that would explain a lot about me. Roughly every 7 years my interests and obsessions seem to go through a complete paradigm shift. I've always assumed this to be the case because I like to challenge myself, either that, or I'm a chicken shit and like to bail on things once the time comes to start taking them seriously (in a professional public sort of way).
I don't know if I buy the 7 year itch theory, but if it is real, then the paradigm train of present is getting cyclical. In fact, I'm find myself once again interested in my interests of 7 years past... Perhaps this is the point where I redevelop and take seriously my urge to write...
At any rate, constantly learning something new might be a good way for me to fight off Dementia and Alzheimer's as I enter my twilight years (I'm 4 from 40) ;)
Dobson Trail (me)

There are some fun obstacles to traverse running down the Dobson Trail. I really must do more trail running.
cat whisker blur

The blurr is actually my cat's whiskers when she was nosing around my camera as it took the picture.
Well, well... good things may be floating on the horizon. We'll have to wait and see and act and see...
