2006-12-31 (rest - sort of)
matthew — Sun, 12/31/2006 - 16:27
Well I guess this will be another rest day, but only because I plan to spend a great deal of the night out dancing (which isn't quite rest).
It's also my last night of debauchery before I start a strict diet and training schedule so...
Happy New Year!!!
2006-12-30 (rest)
adie — Sat, 12/30/2006 - 19:55
I've taken the day off to flake, relax, and geek out.
It felt good to come home yesterday.
Whenever I return to Montreal I feel a huge sense of relief. That's how I know that Montreal is my home and the place where I belong. I've lived in this city for 13 years now, and over the years I've found it to be both a beautiful and a hard place to root myself. I've thought about leaving a number of times, but I can never think of anywhere that I would rather be. I love Montreal, I love Mile-End, and despite it's periodic difficulties I love my life here.
The Last Sat Danish
adie — Sat, 12/30/2006 - 11:01
This is the last day of my Sat morning double lemon danish tradition. BTW I'm back in Montreal, and New Years will be my last debaucherous blow out for a while. SO no more beer, no more junk, no more danishes, come Monday I live clean.
2006-12-29 (10hr drive)
adie — Sat, 12/30/2006 - 10:54
Drove 10 hours back to Mtl, and then went out to meet some friends. No training.
Pump House
adie — Thu, 12/28/2006 - 21:40
Well who would have thunk it, a good New Brunswick brewery... and located on Orange Street in Moncton. They have a very good Bitter, and apparently they won an award as best Brewery in Canada. There is also a bar attached to the brewery and it's now pretty much my favorite bar in Moncton...
Dobson Trail (me)
adie — Thu, 12/28/2006 - 20:38

There are some fun obstacles to traverse running down the Dobson Trail. I really must do more trail running.

Dobson Trail
adie — Wed, 12/27/2006 - 16:07
Running through the woods... dodging trees, leaping roots, rocks, ducking braches, crossing streams, ice patches, sink holes, bogs... planning the footfalls 5 steps ahead, scrambling up, barreling down... you gotta love running the Dobson Trail. I went for an hour long run this morning and it left me wanting more.
I'd recommend running the Dobson Trail to anybody who loves such things. It's a trail that starts in Riverview and runs 66km through backwoods NB to Fundy National Park (after 3k you can say bye to your cell). I ran 10k out last summer, and after 5k it's rough and tumble fun (at one point my shoe came off in a sink hole). Of course being a mostly a city boy I did get a little paranoid about bears but...
2006-12-26 Training (good)
adie — Tue, 12/26/2006 - 16:40
Looks like the cold is gone and the training is on. It was amazing how many people were at the gym... Moncton holiday boredom...
Total Time: 2:20
1:00 pm - YMCA lots of stuff
- Run: 0:30 (treadmill)
- Row: 0:15
- Weights: 0:30 (upper body)
- Elliptical: 0:30
- Run: 0:15 (treadmill)
- Core: 0:20 (core and stretch well)
La la la my cold is gone, a little cough but... It's time to rock... bring on the Monkeys.
So I went to see Bond, and in short, I liked it. It made for a good action flick, and I think they did a good job of setting up his future (in the past and future) character. The movie was solidly entertaining, but at the same time I didn't walk out of it with a wow sort of feeling. It's worth a watch, and it's definitely better than the last two.
Moncton Run
adie — Mon, 12/25/2006 - 19:49
This afternoon I had a beautiful stuffy nosed run on the Peticodiac trail. I was out for about 45 min, and it's really pretty running through the marshland. In the summer when I was biking along there I kept seeing some form of pheasant. The Peticodiac is an interesting looking river (I'll post some pictures later). I think I'll do it a couple of more times while I'm here. What remains to be seen is whether this causes my cold to come back any.
Christmas Day
adie — Mon, 12/25/2006 - 19:31
Christmas morning has come and gone. My mother and grandmother liked their presents. I got sneakers, socks, chocolates, and a bunch of cloths that I'll probably return (some don't fit my body, and some don't fit my personality).
Really every year Christmas gets a little lesser and this year a little sad. This year I feel strange with my Grandpa being gone, my Grandma getting weaker, and having no private space to escape to.
Tonight I'll be meeting up with my friend Doug and going to see the James Bond movie. We'll see what happens.
2006-12-25 Training (good)

Christmas day... I went for a run down the Petitcodiac -- actually I made it a bit of a circuit run (stopped in a couple of places for chin-ups, crunches, and pushups)
